
Tim Platt
Tim is Director of Marketing & Audience Growth at the British Film Institute (BFI) with over 20 years’ experience in film marketing working across Distribution, Exhibition, Festivals, Publishing, VoD and Production. He is part of the senior leadership team, overseeing the marketing, brand & creative, content & social media, CRM, and customer data & insights teams, working across the BFI’s cultural, commercial and industrial activity.
He was executive producer for the 2022 Universal Pictures release of Explorer, a feature bio-pic charting the life and achievements of Sir Ranulph Fiennes, the world’s greatest living explorer, and executive producer for the BFI on Nat Geo’s Endurance (2024), a feature doc now on Disney+ which charts the inspiring story of the discovery of the wreck alongside the original polar expedition, featuring Frank Hurley’s original film courtesy of the BFI National Archive. Other recent projects have included exec producer on Sky Arts’ The Life and Deaths of Christopher Lee (Canal Cat films, 2024).
Producer credits include Freedom: 50 years of Pride, 90” TV special to mark 50 years of Pride for Channel 4 (co-produced with BBC Studios, 2022) and Reel Britannia (a 4 part 60” series for BritBox), a modern history of cinema by Jon Spira and Canal Cat Films. He was also executive producer for Penny Woolcock’s short film Out of the Rubble in 2015, Saving South (History Hit 2024) and for the BFI, on Mark Jenkin’s short A Dog Called Discord in 2023 and Made in Britain: the Films of Powell & Pressburger (2024).
