Jethro Massey
A British-French writer & director, Jethro is drawn to the poetic and the absurd, and loves digging up the past to investigate the world around him today. He studied Russian, hitchhiked from Moscow to Vladivostok before starting his career as a filmmaker; a journey that has taken him from the backstage of the Bolshoi to the deepest villages of Mali filming with shamanic tribal clowns. In 2015, he founded Film Fabric as a home for his “pay-the-rent” work, and to develop his personal fiction projects.
Jethro wrote, directed and self-produced his first feature, Paul & Paulette take a bath. Beyond his wildest dreams, the film premiered at Venice Critics Week, where it won the Audience Award, and was nominated for the Biennale’s Queer Lion Award. It has since gone on to win several “best first feature” awards at festivals, and will be released theatrically in the UK in summer 2025.
