Fiona Lamptey

From October 2020 to June 2023, Fiona Lamptey held the role of Director of UK Film at Netflix, where she led the charge in orchestrating the development and production of groundbreaking UK original films. Within her illustrious Netflix portfolio, Fiona curated exceptional works Including the BAFTA-nominated THE WONDER, starring Florence Pugh, the triumphant crime thriller I CAME BY by Babak Anvari, and THE KITCHEN a captivating collaboration co-directed by Kibwe Tavares and Daniel Kaluuya. Additionally, she commissioned and oversaw SCOOP, a gripping dramatic retelling of the infamous Prince Andrew interview. 

Before Netflix, Fiona commenced her career at Channel 4, starting in the Commercial Affairs Department,  overseeing documentary, reality and live sports programming before venturing into the dynamic world of feature films. Over nine dedicated years as a Production Executive at Film 4, Fiona exhibited adept production management, supporting a rich tapestry of short film and feature productions, which included iconic titles like FOUR LIONS, ATTACK THE BLOCK and THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI. 

Fiona’s commitment to identifying and launching distinctive British talent and championing unrepresented voices led to the establishment of her own production company, Fruit Tree Media. Fruit Tree became a development and nurturing platform for writers/directors including, Remi Weekes, Shola Amoo, Ben Aston, Adeyemi Michael and Nadia Latif – a milestone that earned her company the esteemed BFI vision award. 

In 2019, Fiona was a co-producer on the critically acclaimed SITTING IN LIMBO, which was nominated and won Best Single Drama and garnered her a BAFTA award. Fiona’s other accolades include being named a Screen Star of Tomorrow, being recognised as a prominent Black industry leader as part of the inaugural Breaking the Glass Ceiling programme and being a co-opted member of the  Bafta Film Committee. Currently, Fiona holds a pivotal position on the board of RAMBERT, the UK’s longest-running dance school.
