Debbie Howard
Originally from a working-class family in Lancashire, Debbie was as an actor before founding Big Buddha Films in 2006 and moving into writing and directing. Her BFI Network short, Safe, produced by Wellington Films, tackles violence against women and has screened at over 50 film festivals worldwide, winning multiple awards. She has made many short films including Peekaboo, starring Lesley Sharp and Shaun Dooley, and the acclaimed feature documentary Still Loved, both addressing baby loss with sensitivity and depth. Debbie is currently developing a new short film Roach, a feature film Cold, TV drama The Return, and TV comedy Hitched. She has a documentary Lifted, in production with Studio of the North. As a freelance TV director, credits include The Sister Boniface Mysteries, Emmerdale, Coronation Street, and RTS-nominated The World According to Grandpa. A full BAFTA and BIFA member, Debbie is represented by Andrew Mills at Revolution Talent.
