Charles McDonald

Charles McDonald started his career with Theo Cowan in 1978. He then founded Judy Tarlo Associates with Judy Tarlo, before establishing Stone Hallinan McDonald in 1986, in partnership with Americans Connie Stone and Tim Hallinan, handling film accounts and IBM’s European-wide T.V. sponsorship drive. He formed McDonald & Rutter in January 1994 with Jonathan Rutter, specialising in all aspects of film-oriented work – production, international, corporate and UK distribution – as well as television and theatre work. McDonald & Rutter was incorporated into Premier PR in April 2006. From November 2008 Charles McDonald has operated as a freelance consultant, retaining clients such as Picturehouse, Europa Cinemas and the European Film Awards as well as maintaining strong links with filmmakers such as Ken Loach, Pawel Pawlikowski, Lukas Moodysson, Lynne Ramsay, Wim Wenders, Sally Potter and Jim Jarmusch. Current and recent films handled include Elle, The Eagle Huntress, One More Time With Feeling, 20,000 Days on Earth, Paterson, Only Lovers Left Alive, I, Daniel Blake, Lady in the Van, The Night Manager, The Young Pope, The Selfish Giant, Wuthering Heights, The Party and Cold War. Personal clients include Kenneth Branagh, Peter Morgan and John le Carré.
