Ben Toye

After originally training and working as an actor in his early twenties, Ben left the industry for 16 years to run a successful manufacturing company. During Covid he realised how much he missed creativity and storytelling, so sold this business to set up Big North Films in 2021. Its first feature film “Treading Water” was shot in 2022, which Ben worked on as sole producer. “Treading Water” held its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival in October 2024 and has also featured at Kyiv International Film Festival Molodist and Manchester International Film Festival. It was longlisted in 3 BIFA categories and Ben received a full nomination for the Breakthrough Producer Award. “Treading Water” was released in cinemas and on streaming platforms in spring 2025. Ben is currently in the early stages of developing his next feature with Big North Films.
