When Oscar and his best friend Charlie move to London to pursue careers as actors, their friendship is tested to the limit when Charlie finds instant success, and Oscar is typecast as the ‘chubby funny’ best friend type, stuck doing chocolate adverts. He descends into a self-obsessed, depressed downward spiral, offending and upsetting everyone in his path – including his not-girlfriend Sophie, who as Charlie says, really is ‘good for him’.
“A smart, quirky coming-of-age comedy that does exactly what it says on the tin. It really worked for me – I found the characters engaging and relevant. The dialogue is fantastic – I found myself giggling and smiling all the way through. I’m impressed by the confidence and unapologetic quirkiness of this debut feature and look forward to whatever he’ll write next.”
