BIFA Presents: Moonlight

Thursday, February 9, 2017

Winner of the Best International Independent Film (sponsored by Champagne Taittinger) at BIFA 2016, Moonlight is a coming-of-age story that chronicles the life of Chiron, a young black man growing up in a rough Miami neighbourhood in the late ’80s and early ’90s.

Anchored by extraordinary performances from a powerful ensemble cast (including Naomie Harris, Mahershala Ali and Trevante Rhodes), this is the story of a lifetime – a ground-breaking and universal tale about who you choose to be, versus who you really are.

Since winning the Best International Independent Film BIFA, Moonlight has gone on to win the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture, and be nominated for four BAFTAs and eight Academy Awards.
