Neil McCartney

Neil McCartney is managing director of McCartney Media, a commercial company which operates in the areas of film, television and telecommunications.

Neil’s first feature as a producer was Season of Mists, an Anglo-Russian film first released in Moscow in 2009. His second was The Empty Home, a co-production involving Kyrgyzstan, Russia, France and the UK, which was Kyrgyzstan’s entry for the Academy Award for Best Foreign-Language Film.

He also produced Vision Shorts, the programme about the Independent Film Trust’s (IFT) film-making courses which was broadcast on the Community Channel in 2010, and many of the IFT’s videos.

He is a member of the European Film Academy and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and has served on many film juries including the Faithful Heart film festival in Moscow in October 2008, the Watersprite student film competition in Cambridge in 2011, 2012 and 2013, and the Rushes Soho Shorts festival in 2011 and 2012.
