Abigail Tarttelin

Abigail Tarttelin

Abigail is an award-winning writer and performer. Her debut novel Flick explored contemporary teen masculinity in a northern town, while follow-up Golden Boy, a bildungsroman of an intersex protagonist, garnered numerous accolades and awards following its publication in nine languages worldwide, including the 2015 American Library Association ALEX medal. Her third novel recently sold to Macmillan.

Abigail also fronts feminist concept band Girlboy, featured in BBC Introducing’s picks of the year with singles Jennifer Lawrence and Girls Won’t Mind, and edits the tongue-in-cheekily titled zine I Hope You Like Feminist Rants. Abigail began her creative life as a performer, ranked by Moviescope Magazine as a ‘One To Watch‘ in 2009, and dubbed by the London Evening Standard one of the 25 most powerful Londoners under 25 in 2013. Her first job was in a video shop.

Abigail is represented by Jo Unwin of Jo Unwin Literary Agency, and Matthew Bates of Sayle Screen. She brings an in-depth knowledge of story, dialogue, and character, as well as a lifelong love of film to the 2016 jury.
